Our Story
Like many outdoor enthusiasts, we were part of an incredible Facebook community where people regularly shared hidden campsites, off-grid accommodation, guest farms, and unforgettable travel experiences.
The problem was that these amazing recommendations quickly disappeared down the Facebook timeline. A fantastic campsite shared today could be almost impossible to find just a few weeks later.
We realised there had to be a better way.
So, OffGrid Adventures was born.
Our goal was to create a permanent home where these incredible destinations could be easily discovered, searched, and shared—while giving accommodation owners and adventure businesses a place to showcase what makes their destinations special.
Today, OffGrid Adventures is growing into much more than a directory. It’s becoming a community-driven platform where adventurers can discover new destinations, share experiences, and help support local tourism businesses across South Africa.

Hi, we’re the people behind OffGrid Adventures.
Like many South Africans, we love escaping the busy pace of everyday life to spend time in nature. Whether it’s exploring a remote gravel road, relaxing around a campfire, discovering a hidden campsite, or simply enjoying a sunset in the middle of nowhere, these are the moments that inspire us.
We’ve been fortunate enough to travel through some incredible places, and every trip reminds us how many amazing destinations are still waiting to be discovered.
OffGrid Adventures isn’t a large corporation or a travel company.
It’s a passion project created by outdoor enthusiasts who genuinely love camping, overlanding, and exploring South Africa’s hidden gems.
Our hope is simple: if we can help one family discover an unforgettable camping destination, or help one small accommodation owner welcome more visitors, then we’re achieving exactly what we set out to do.
